- 1.
- Q: When is the data updated? A: The data shows trends in circulation on a six-month basis and will be updated biannually. Each row contains the date range during which the item was checked out as well as the exact date of the last checkout.
- 2.
- Q: Where does the data come from? A: The library uses Koha open source software to manage its collection.
- 3.
- Q: What does “circulated” mean? A: An item has circulated when it is loaned to a library patron, that loan is renewed, or an in-house use is recorded. Library staff record in-house use in the catalog for items that are read or otherwise interacted with by patrons inside the library. In the dataset, in-house use is included in total checkouts, but a corresponding checkout date is not displayed in the LastCheckoutDate column.

- The same title may be popular over multiple six-month periods. The DateRange column is included to differentiate between these occurrences.
- 5.
- Q: Why are some values blank? A. Because this data is pulled directly from a library catalog (Koha), missing values correspond to empty fields in Koha.
